TWO PROJECTS REMAIN! Next Project:
THE GASKETS PROJECT
Tuesday July 12, 7:00PM EST

"Shot forward from Elizabethan England through a pinhole in time, Heyward and Hatton were forced to adjust to the times... This meant finding clothes that didn't make people stare, figuring out plastic packaging, adopting American accents, and digging the modern music of this time. Going back hasn't even occurred to them. Her Majesty Would Not Be Amused."

Indeed she wasn't. And so Hatton was sent back to Parts (and Times) Unknown and Heyward changed his name to DJ Marshall and The Heytton Project is now known as simply...

The Project

Oh, and moved to Tuesday night, 7:00PM.

This is The Project's home. If you're looking for the Heytton Project Archives, you'll find them right here

The Radio4All Project Archives

In a move towards podcasting of shows, I have started making use of radio4all.net, an aggregation site for radio shows of all types. radio4all allows for streaming, downloading, and PodCasting. All future listings will refer to the radio4all links. Even those still link back to cavesofice.org for the actual file.

To see the current list of available projects (even those not listed here, go to the Project Series page
iPodder and other PodCast client users:

All of these are 96kbps, which is still about FM quality and slightly better than what you'd hear on the radio.

All of these are "finished masters" meaning I done some sound normalizing and cleanup on them before posting. Time permitting, I'm working my way backwards through the older archive shows to catch up. It's getting a lot easier and a lot faster and I'm getting the hang of this whole editing thing.

Shows are listed in reverse date order! Red ones are recent adds.

05 July 2005 -- The Third-to-Last Project:  Alas, the Project is winding down for the Big Move to Maine. Other than acknowleging that, pretty much nothing special going on here. That's for NEXT week.

28 June 2005 -- The First Summer Project:  Took a week off to pack and stuff. We're back with new stuff from Mike Doughty, New Pornographers, and Tracy Bonham.

14 June 2005 -- The Final Spring Cleaning Project:  Closing spring out with new Gorillaz, Ben Folds, and Fischerspooner.

31 May 2005 -- The Best Project Yet:  I don't say that often, but this edition of The Project was and still is the perfect embodiment of The Project's potential, and of what I'm listening to these days.

24 May 2005 -- The Lazy Day Project:  "Lazy" because when I don't want to work hard, I play a lot of long songs so I can take it easy. Witness, especially, the opening and closing tracks, which are over 8 minutes each.

Older Projects

Okay, unlike the old listings with a paragraph per show, I'm going to attempt one-liners here so it's all on one page.
Shows are listed in reverse date order! Red ones are recent adds.

These archives are in two bandwidth flavors:
High bandwidth (128k) for Cable/DSL and faster Quality is as near CD quality as the recording source allowed (expect some buzz from the DJ board, though)
Low bandwidth (48k) for v.34 modems, spotty V.90 modems, and really, really bad Cable/DSL connections (this is the bandwidth of the current Shoutcast feed)

Also, take note! Most of these are the "rough" versions, which means sound level can vary wildly at times, depending how closely I was paying attention when running the show.

22 Mar 2005 (48k) (128k) (Playlist) -- The Second Tape Project:  This was pre-recorded too. I confess that it's not as good as recent shows have been, but in the second hour things improved greatly.

15 Mar 2005 (48k) (128k) (Playlist) -- The Warm Leatherette Project:  Inspired by discovery of a new Warm Leatehrette cover, made that the featured song of the night, playing versions by Angel Dust 216, Grace Jones, and of course the original by The normal.

08 Mar 2005 (48k) (128k) (Playlist) -- The First Tape Project:  This was pre-recorded for playing on at the right time, but it was recorded in real-time, not assembled from MP3s.

22 Feb 2005 (48k) (128k) (Playlist) -- The End of February Project:  Last one for a couple weeks. new music from Bettie Serveert, Yello, and Tori Amos.

15 Feb 2005 (48k) (128k) (Playlist) -- Not The Valentine Project:  This is when I officially put to sleep the idea of themed shows. or, at least Big Themes such as cynical Valentine's Day Sucks type songs. That theme's been overdone anyway. The first half hour or so of "Mercury Falls" with Melissa is also included.

08 Feb 2005 (48k) (128k) (Playlist) -- The JAFO Project:  Special guest observer Sean is in the house. He'll be coming soon as the 3-6AM guy on Thursday night/Friday morning.

25 Jan 2005 (48k) (128k) (Playlist) -- The First Tuesday Project:  Kicking off the new Tuesday Night slot with an interview with Gaskets singer Teddy. Well the interview came at the end, just as I was running out of music. If you just want the interview: Clickety here! It's got NEW MUSIC from the Gaskets distant-future CD.

13 Jan 2005 (48k) (128k) (Playlist) -- The Last (Thursday) Project:  Marshall says good night to the Thursday slot by doing absolutely nothing special.

06 Jan 2005 (48k) (128k) (Playlist) -- The Debut Project:  the first Project on the new, official WRIR-LP 97.3FM airwaves! It's our official Richmond radio debut!

23 Dec 2004 (48k) (128k) (Playlist) -- The Christmas Project:  Sparky and the bandit play their Christmas favorites. Sparky is very quiet, even when I make her talk to the nice people. This was the first show broadcast to our test-phase audience.

16 Dec 2004 (48k) (128k) (Playlist) -- The Third Project:  Nothing special. Just the usual nonsense... new music and a smattering of Christmas tunes.

09 Dec 2004 (48k) (128k) (Playlist) -- The Second Project:  Getting a little better acquainted with the new studio setup. Tossing in a lot of new stuff from the rack, too.

02 Dec 2004 (48k) (128k) (Playlist) -- The First Project:  Many firsts. The very first Project with DJ Marshall. The very first Project in the new studio. The very first Project EVER!
